Review of Bus 174 (2002) by Chris S — 29 Jul 2007
Ditching the kinetic thrills and cinematic bravura of City of God, Bus 174 delves deeper into the wounded soul of modern Brasil with a grim dissection of hold-up gone terribly wrong. The intersection of violence, media and class is handled with an almost anthropologic methodology that at once leaves the viewer saddened, angry and powerless.
A tough and sobering documentary.
