Review of Bus 174 (2002) by Andi D — 11 Jan 2008
This is one of the finest documentaries I've ever seen, profoundly humane, suspensful, and horrifying, with a flawless structures. The filmmakers use the story of the bus hijacking to explore the situation of street children in Brazil, returning always to the tense standoff as it progresses hopelessly to one of the most overpowering, horrifying endings I've seen in any film, fiction or non.
