Review of Burzynski, the Movie (2010) by Ken D — 13 Feb 2012
If this movie is true, the FDA has become just the right hand of big pharma, is completely corrupt, and we should all be very afraid of the future of the United State for those who require any sort of novel medication. The story depicted the FDA in such a grotesque light that was hard to believe. I say it was hard for me to believe, but I did not say impossible. That is, I wouldn't doubt it is true.
While it has been known that officials in the FDA and those in big pharma seem to swap around quite a bit whilst claiming no conflict in interest, I was very disturbed by this story because it suggested a horrible corruption within both the FDA and big pharma. Ironically the same day I watched a special on the biggest poizi scheme in history pulled of by Bernard Madoff earlier this century, and while his story is alarming, I found this one much, much more disturbing because we are dealing with not just financial futures of families but people actually dying on the sole account of evil corruption in the FDA and medical community, the very administration and community chartered and under oath to do no harm.
I would have given the documentary a five star rating, but the presentation was a little on the long-winded side, tending to repeat points for greater effect. Also a lot of the testimony was highly emotionally charged such that it became a little exhausting after awhile to absorb. Never the less what was said was so disturbing that I managed to overlook these shortcomings and still recommend the documentary.
