Review of Burnt by the Sun (1994) by Jasen . — 18 Jun 2007
This movie introduced me to two greats of Russian films - director Nikita Mikhalkov, and actor Oleg Menshikov. It's a spell-binding tale of one family during Stalin's purges in the 30s. Beautiful locations and award deserving performances are just a small portion of what this film delivers.
There is a sequel in the works.....let's hope it's as good as this one!
