Review of Burnt (2015) by Greg B — 02 Nov 2015
"Burnt" is a film about, you guessed it, the culinary arts. Bradley Cooper stars as an aspiring chef in London who is seeking the coveted three-star rating for being a chef. He only has two. He purchases a restaurant in London and hires a staff of competent kitchen workers, hoping to make his restaurant the best in the UK.
His character can be very brash and abrasive, but also comes to embrace the help of others and realizes he needs other people to succeed. It's a form of social collectivism. This film could have failed but for Cooper's charismatic charm.
He is solid in everything he does, and I have never seen him do bad acting. This film is full of food porn that satiates the senses and will make you leave hungry. It may not be as timeless as it wants to be, but it's still a passable watch about a man with a dream who comes to need others around him more than he needs himself --------------------------------------------------------------- B.
