Review of Burning Palms (2010) by Hiram S — 28 May 2011
A portmanteau of 5 morally ambiguous stories that range from laugh out loud, absurd and comical, to dark, uncomfortable and disturbing. The acting was good, the stories themselves very unique re tellings of urban legends and common fables, like a modern day "tales from the crypt" sans horror.
The horror being the human condition.Only complaint was if somehow the vignettes shared a common thread, character or segueway (The psychotherapist is in 2 of the stories, but none of the others) as a result the direction and clever script work feels unguided, but an entertaining romp for those with left field tastes in cinema.
