This truly is the Coen brothers at their best & a testament to the their remarkable creative abilities as writers and directors. At turns hilarious, dramatic and tragic it is a brilliant script with an immensely talented ensemble cast giving a masterclass in portraying exaggerated characterisations without overwhelming the story or losing their characters' humanity.

The best humour comes from the most throwaway lines (in particular, JK Simmons two brief scenes had me in stitches) & the lack of self awareness characters have of their own failings as they become lost in the maze of deceit & betrayal.
