Review of Burlesque Queen (1977) by Fernando L — 26 Nov 2006
Celso Ad Castillo's masterpiece is a mess of a film, something about a young stripper (Vilma Santos) asserting her right to her self and the passing of her trade (the burlesque show) but that's incidental; this is easily the most visually lyrical Filipino film ever made.
On sheer beauty alone it's a great film.
