Review of Burlesque (2010) by Sara Z — 04 Jul 2011

Okay, l let's be honest here, I didn't expect much. I was curious because I really like Cher ever since Mermaids. But this film surprised the hell out of me! The opening was shakey and overdone but once Christina A.

's character hits the theater/dancing portion of the movie, I was hooked. Her singing from then out was superb and literally gave me goosebumps. When she imagined herself playing in "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend" I loved it, but I will say, Nicole Kidman did it better in Moulin Rouge :) Overall it was great, although this is just my opinion.

I love musicals and sometimes singers/performers don't transition well into film, but this one wasn't too shabby! I did not like kristen bell playing Nikki, the actress just wasn't suited well for the character.

I'd rather of seen someone along the lines of Mila Kunis or Megan Fox.
