Review of Burlesque (2009) by Dc E — 07 Feb 2012
When you're married, you surrender the ability to always choose what movie you see. This causes you to see a lot of movies (in the theater, no less!) that you never thought you'd see.
"Burlesque" has a paper thin plot that we've all seen before. Small town girl travels to L.A. in hopes of finding work as a dancer and singer. She lands a job at a burlesque club as a waitress and waits for her big break ... which of course eventually comes. She then needs to decide what is more important, her career or her new found friends ...
See? Told you that you've seen this movie before.
Anyway, if you've seen a Christina Aquilera music video before, then you've pretty much already seen this film. While Aguilera is insanely hot in this movie, and actually shocked me with above average acting skill, there are few other bright spots.
I dunno. Too much "you go girl" for me, I guess.
