Review of Burke & Hare (2010) by Sam P — 11 Apr 2012
*This review will be shorter then most I admit, apologies for ahead.*.
Okay, I will admit at the time this film came out I was really excited for it, and wanted to go see it, but never did in the end. And for that, I am glad, as I actually thought the film was awful. It was jsut awful. And I am gutted about that, because I had high hopes, but I just ended really bored and disappointed.
The problem was that the idea of doing a Burke and Hare film would rely on performing either a very serious horror/drama, or a very black comedy film. This film, unfortunately, attempted to make it very light hearted. Ridiculously light hearted, and with the subject matter, it puts it off too much, and leads to just feeling wrong. Because of that, I wasnâ(TM)t able to enjoy the film.
Another problem was the actors. Serkis, Pegg, Fisher, all of them, are usually quite reliable to at least put in a solid performance, especially Serkis. But I donâ(TM)t think any of them were at all good in this film, which was quite depressing I admit. I have enjoyed them all in other roles, but none of them in this film.
