Review of Buried (2010) by Adam H — 12 Jan 2013
Showing that he's capable of being more than just a pretty face and snappy one liners. Ryan Reynolds proves he's more than capable of carrying a move by himself, literally. Reynolds stars as Paul Conroy, a civilian contract that is taken Hostage and buried in Iraq.
He wakes up in six feet under ground with just a lighter, cellphone, and just hours worth of air. Great direction by Rodrigo Cortes, he keeps the suspense running from start to finish without even changing the environment.
Reynolds also holds the entire plot together from his own emotion. This was a huge gamble that played out in spades. You experience every emotion that Reynolds does. From his tiny confinement to his frustrations and grief.
A well done movie that will most likely get notoriety during the awards season.
