Review of Buried (2010) by Charlie C — 12 Apr 2014
Buried is a unique style of film-making, venturing to minimalism, and yet, creating a magnetic and powerful atmosphere. This movie is able to thoroughly capture the claustrophobia and helplessness Ryan Reynold's character feels.
In doing so, it is able to capture the viewer's attention, manipulate their empathy and then crush it in an interesting and riské climax. Buried is a one-off enjoyable movie about the simple concept of being buried alive, it does have its faults and conveniences, but the climax makes them forgivable.
Rodrigo Cortes has done a wonderful job here.
