Review of Buried (2010) by Sage H — 17 Mar 2014
They say Hitchcock was the master of suspense and thrills of his time, and basically defined what it meant to be scary and frightening. If so, then Rodrigo Cortes is the Hitchcock of the new generation.
This movie is absolutely exhilarating from start to finish. This film proves you do not need over the top violence and jump scares to make for a frightening movie experience. But instead, all you need is a situation that you literally put yourself into.
This is by far Reynolds best acting performance and should have won him an Oscar. Same goes for the director, to use so little but yet put so much into a movie watching experience. The movie sends quite a realistic horrifying yet disturbing tense message, but for all of the right reasons.
An instant classic that all filmmakers can learn from.
