Review of Bunraku (2010) by Richard B — 14 Jul 2012
Personally I liked it. I've had it in my queue on Netflix for awhile now, but finally decided to watch it last night. I liked the over the top story telling in it. The cinematography was cool and interesting enough to keep entertained.
While dialogue was clearly lacking a bit, it was still entertaining. Woody did a great job in his role as "The Bartender"(go figure). Gackt I thought was interesting. I've never seen anything he's done before, but I think he did a pretty good job.
Emily Kaiho, a new and beautiful actress only had a small role, but I look forward to more from her. Demi Moore was also in this, and her best scene in the movie is when she keeps cracking nuts with a wooden mallet, to punctuate Ron Perlmans dialogue with Kevin McKidd.
If your looking for Shakespeare, this isn't the movie for you. But if your looking for a movie to entertain you on a more visceral level and to give something a chance, then I would suggest this movie.
