Review of Bunraku (2010) by Naem M — 10 Mar 2012
I have no issue whatsoever being in the lower percentile of people who really enjoyed this movie. The concept was fantastic and surprisingly believable. The movie as a whole was very well executed. The Drifter, Yoshi and Killer #2 are each fantastic and awesome characters.
Sets seemed to be designed in a way that almost makes you think they were for the stage - which, mixed with the elaborate color scheme, adds even more to the movie's comic-book feel. I certainly feel for this movie.
My only opinion in regards to why it was marginally unsuccessful can be credited to all of the Michael Bay/JasonStatham lovers out there who go into movies with a mindless-explosion/lifeless-action quota to be met.
What a complete shame.
