Review of Bunraku (2010) by Tanvir M — 01 Jan 2013
It got mercilessly bashed by critics, but I simply loved the way it has been styled, with very cool looks, kinetic pacing, and nodding winks to multiple genres. May be it's uneven storytelling, and didn't achieve greatness, but still far better than the cookie cutter trash Hollywood seems to churn out these days.
It didn't hurt that it mixed up my favorite genres of Martial arts, Western and Noir to make this tasty potpourri. Recommended for film buffs who are able to identify tongue in the cheek ribbing of movie cliches.
