Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Justin T — 31 Dec 2018
Bumblebee is the transformers movie that Michael Bay's 2007 Transformers movie should have been. Honestly, this kind of movie would have been the perfect movie to start the entire Transformers movie franchise with . The plot was excellent - I'm a lifetime Transformers fan and for the first time I could see the G1 Characters and G1-based storyline I had always wanted to see before my very own eyes! I loved the inclusion of Soundwave and Shockwave in their G1 formats and just the sheer power of the Decepticons. I don't know about you but as the Transformers series went on the Decepticons kinda felt like jokes over time in their power. But this movie made the Decepticons frightening, scary, as they should have always been. I mean (spoiler).
The sight of beloved characters like Brawn being shot down made the Fall of Cybetron really climatic.
The point of the Autobots and Deceptions is that the Decopticons are supposed to be a lot more powerful than the Autobots, who are supposed to take the bad guys out through teamwork and bonds with each other. I see a lot of that feeling in this movie even though there is only one underdog character here, Bumblebee.
