Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Øyvind R — 15 Jan 2019
This movie really impressed me. I'm not a huge fan of the Transformers-franchise, but Bumblebee gave me as a viewer a very different experience than any of the other movies in the franchise. For me, what distinguishes Bumblebee from the other Tranformers-movies is the ability to craft a strong and interesting story and characters.
The movie feels a lot like a coming-of-age flick. The lead character, Charlie struggles to find her place in the world. She feels alone, mainly because she lost her father a while back. The rest of the family seems to have moved on, but not her.
So when she meets Bumblebee, she gains new hope and joy in her life. It is this bond that makes the movie so good. That, combined with good action scenes, 80s nostalgia and humor inbetween makes Bumblebee a one-to-watch on the big screen.
