Review of Bulworth (1998) by Mike N — 02 Oct 2008
There were some very funny tidbits in this film. I also really like the premise; a washed up politician decides to go all out, tell it how it is and question principles of both the white and black community.
It's a ballsy move and I commend Beatty for doing it. Warren Beatty is fun to watch as the super white guy trying to be black. Some may find it offensive...I find it hilarious. and Holly Berry does a nice job as well.
I must give props to Oliver Platt as the spastic campaign manager. But even though the movie is full of wicked energy with many funny off color jokes and moments, it loses momentum several times and gets old.
Overall, a fun movie. Just don't expect anything fabulous. EXCEPT FOR THE SOUNDTRACK. Definitely fab!
