Review of Bully (2011) by Dex E — 09 Mar 2009
A pretty bleak and unremitting watch. Larry Clark has faced charges of being unpleasantly interested in teenage sex, and he doesn't do himself any favours. It's a tricky line to walk that separates naturalistic realism from gratuitous voyeurism, and he fails on several occasions.
That said, there are some strong performances here, and the unravelling of the group is shocking and immediate. Uncompromising, unsentimental stuff.
