Review of Bully (2010) by Austin W — 05 Mar 2008
A brutally realistic view at the depravity of surburban youth. Brad Renfro exudes a silent rage as he storms across the screen. I didn't care too much for some of the camera work (the spin was particularly nauseating) but at other times the scenes are shot beautifully.
This isn't an easy film to define - I found myself ambivalent at the end. It was a brilliant piece of work, but so brutal and violent that I felt repulsed. But then again that gut reaction is what we're supposed to feel, isn't it?
