Review of Bully (2010) by Jeremy S — 16 May 2009
Trashterpiece may be the most sordid major release ever committed to celluloid, and who fitter to provide that then Larry Clark? Flawless (and at times even hilarious) performances carry material you desperately want to look away from but likely cannot.
Anchoring and perhaps even redeeming the unpleasantness are Renfro and Stahl, both incredible as bullied and bully respectively. Stahl, in spite of his slight frame and normally unassuming presence, is truly terrifying; I feel quite comfortable labeling him the most despicable villain I've ever encountered on film.
Not for everyone, but one-of-a-kind for those who can stomach it.
