Review of Bully (2001) by James I — 09 Mar 2012
Emotionally gripping. Superbly acted with a tad of staleness but not enough to complain about, sex scenes after a while were a bit nagging and annoying but stop for the moment after the first 45 minutes and that's where the real fun begins.
Bully looms in very close on the common teenage lifestyle, sex and drugs. Though unfortunate, it is reality. and that's what Bully put's on the screen. I'm not a person who feels for characters easily but Brad Renfro's above the average acting made me feel bad for Marty, and you got to know the characters, and wonder what they're going to do next.
The one complaint I have is the nauseating camera angles, but there's also something to enjoy because with the scene where they are talking to Hitman, you get to see all of the characters expressions as the plan is sort of coming together.
Bully, I wouldn't declare a must see, but I would definitely recommend it to the fans of dark, gritty, realistic movies, and to those with a strong stomach.
