Review of Bullitt (1968) by Eduardo P — 11 Jul 2008
A distinct lack of tension plagues the film. The chase scene is over-hyped and ends up as being a reasonably boring scene. Whilst merely a decade later, George Miller does a much better job of all this with Mad Max in that the car chase is better and so is the character.
Bulitt might seem cold, but I think boring is a more suitable term. The long shots are also annoying, and do not lend themselves to the film in any way. In conclusion, this film is over hyped and I do not believe it warrants its status as a classic.
Groundbreaking? Yes... Classic? Not by any means.
