Review of Bullitt (1968) by Martin N — 15 Nov 2009
Immediacy. Thats whats lacking in an otherwise top notch cop flick. Everyone and everythings just tooo cooool and laidback. Which is weird for a cop film where theyre chasin a murderer. After an hour the jazzy score and relaxed acting of everyone made me wonder if anythin really mattered.
Am used to the top cop shoutings of mcclane and his dyin hard so the chilled out vibe in this one kept me at a distance and from gettin properly wrapped up in the shenanigans. Too leisurely really with bullitt bein the kind of cop who walks instead of runnin and he walks around a lot.
Everyone talks like theyve just woken up which is a bit odd. Classic car chase though that really lives up to its reputation.
