Review of Bullitt (1968) by Robert H — 04 Aug 2014
Brilliant car chases and excellent shoot outs. This is in the same league as The French Connection. McQueen isn't quite the renegade cop I was expecting. Instead he is a rather cold man who has been dragged down by the things he's seen on the job.
He's effing excellent though. Commanding the screen with the kind of cool you'd expect from such an icon. The rest of the cast do their best to keep up and are mostly commendable but this is a film for the action.
The ending is one of the best around and is very similar to that used in Heat.
