Review of Bullitt (1968) by Kyle V — 15 Aug 2009
This film confirms that Steve Mcqueen was one of the most badace actors in the 60's and 70's. This film is great because there's a strong since of realism in the film. It's not alot of hollywood mumbo jumbo. I like that about the film.
Also, this film DOES have one of the COOLEST car chases of all time. Really, i've been thinking over an dover about how unbelievably cool the car chase is. There's no epic music in the background, no CGI explosions....it's just two cars, high speed and engines roaring through the streets of san fransisco.
If you're a fan of car chases, this movie is an innovator of the car chase sequence in films and still is being imitated to this day. This is the kind of car chase I crave. Old muscle cars tearing through the streets. You can see alot of this films influence in movies like Vanishing Point and 2007's Death Proof (which definately has a car chase that is nearly on par with this one.).
Watch this film and enjoy the Steve Mcqueen awesomeness.
