Review of Bullitt (1968) by Corey N — 08 Jul 2010
This is a solid cop movie. It stars Steve McQueen as cop Frank Bullitt who gets assigned by the District Attorney Chalmers played by Robert Vaughn to protect a gangster who is to testify in court against his own gang.
But his witness and a fellow cop are shot up. Now the D.A. is breathing down his neck and he must capture those responsible. The story is quite good overall. But some scenes seem to drag or be very slow.
But once some of the action scenes happen they are done very well. The car chase scene in this is excellent. The highlight of the film. I guess the car chase scene in the film set the standard for all future movies with car chases.
Steve McQueen is great in the role as Bullitt. Plus a solid supporting cast to back him up. A very young Robert Duvall is in this as a cabbie. The film has that 60's look and feel to the film but it works and still holds up today.
If your looking for a decent movie about cops and some action then give this a watch.
