Review of Bullets Over Broadway (1994) by Leigh R — 02 Feb 2008
This is one of the last great Woody Allen movies. The performances are outstanding, especially Dianne Wiest. However, it suffers from some of the same pitfalls of other Woody movie which will make all of his work age badly.
Like the majority of his films he struggles with diversifying his cast. Woody Allen works in stereotypes, just like the old Hollywood films which he adores. So what you have are Italian and African American stereotypes whenever he steps out of wasp world.
It's a shame, because it is this flaw alone which will make these films fade into obscurity.
