Review of Bullets Over Broadway (1994) by Itamar K — 28 Jun 2009
Bullets Over Broadway has the feel of a classic Woody Allen movie, but it's not quite that; it lacks something of the unique spark of the classics of the 70's and 80's. On the other hand, it's one of the last ones to really have the authentic Allen feel, right before his quality started to slip.
The writing is solid, and the cast is superb - with the exception of John Cusack, an actor I generally like and admire, who was here, I felt, no more than a pale substitute for Allen himself. All in all - an entertaining, smart movie, and recommended for Allen fans.
