Review of Bulletproof Monk (2003) by Gary C — 25 Feb 2008
Just plain fun. The characters do develop despite the appearance of a two dimensional quality the film may convey at first. Yun-Fat Chow is of course a treasure to enjoy but Scott & King play against each other with chemistry.
Overall the worst of the performances is the most critical, the villain played by Karel Roden. Though painted broadly as a nazi to make him a bad guy, he just doesn't carry the evilness without giving the appearance of the act being a joke.
The film works very well in the end in spite of the sillier bits in it, and the kung fu fighting stuff is actually more fun than usual. Enjoyable to re-watch.
