Review of Bulletproof Monk (2003) by Alex R — 16 Jun 2010
Bulletproof Monk is a fun movie... That's about it. While certainly not one of Seann William Scott's best movies his performance was quality (as always). Chow Yun-Fat and Seann William Scott had great chemistry in this movie but where they excelled everyone else failed. The story is basic, predictable, and a little flat but still somehow entertaining. Jaime King was an extreme disappointment in this movie, her acting was frustratingly poor and her character was flat out irritating. With effects and kung fu movement akin to "Crouching Tiger" there was an air of comedy that I don't think was intended, but ironically it makes the movie enough of a parody/comedy to enjoy. Had a different approach been taken to the fight scenes it would have been pretty obnoxious because the fight scenes that did not use the wire techniques were poorly done.
I would recommend this movie to anyone that likes Seann William Scott and is looking for a couple hours to waste with a couple of laughs.
