Review of Bullet Train (2022) by Closeremperor16 — 19 Aug 2022
Fun movie with some great performances and a bucket load of style. This movie is kind of all style over substance but I didn't mind because it was really fun. There's a somewhat interesting mystery going on and a bunch of wacky characters in a train trying to murder each other.
The action isn't quite as ferocious or refined as some of David Leitch's other work but I found it worked quite well and had enough prop usage in fights that it made me briefly think of Jacky Chan which is never a bad thing!.
I didn't go in to this movie taking it to seriously and when the action stopped in the middle of a climactic battle to flash back and show you a brief history of a water bottles journey from being bought to ending up being used in the fight I knew this movie was the kind of dumb fun I enjoy.
Maybe not his best work, a little looser and less precise but there's so much energy on display it makes up for it by just being fun.
