Review of Bullet to the Head (2012) by Cameron M — 15 Mar 2013
Sylvester Stallone shoots people in the face. That's it for subtext in this half-rate soulless action swill. I've already had to sit through more stupid ass, formula boom-boom, pow-pow flicks this year than I can count.
Will someone in Hollywood PLEASE make a good movie before next December? Next week, we've got Steven Soderbergh's "Side Effects" hitting theaters, which looks very promising as a human drama, but note that I'm not readily a fan of Soderbergh.
He's had his ups and downs in my book. Anyway, back to the focus here. Bullet to the Head. How do I hate this movie? Let me count the ways. From the first frame, we are bombarded with bangs, crashes, and tedious electric guitar solos, and then, KA-POW! The title smashes into the screen, and we're supposed to be amazed like we haven't seen this stupid technique fifty million times before.
It seriously escapes my mind why people continue to pay money to this swill. There's a fantastic documentary out in select cities this weekend called "Sound City," which I'll be posting a review for, along with one for "Warm Bodies," next.
Go wherever you have to go for "Sound City," because despite the fact that its a documentary, it offers the best entertainment of the three. I'm going to end this review fast, because, honestly, there isn't much I have to say that I haven't said in my reviews for "The Last Stand" or "Parker," the latter of which I'll also be posting shortly.
In conclusion, I just want to say this. Everybody, on three. One... Two... Three... RETIRE STALLONE!!!!!
