Real life ball player Ron Shelton's "Bull Durham" is a wildly funny ode to baseball and to life. Shelton's sassy script is at times preposterous but always sidesplitting, carried by several laugh-out-loud performances, most notably Tim Robbins as a hotshot rookie who can't control his fast ball or his ego, and Susan Sarandon as a coy cougar with a taste for ball players.
