Review of Bugsy Malone (1976) by Dean K — 26 Jun 2007
Most mafia films tend to have high expectations but always fall short. Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, and the like always are missing that one thing. But, this oft forgotten classic mafia film makes up where the others lack.
Most Mafia movies have to make mafia faux pas simply for entertainment and cinematic effects. This movie however dares where no mafia film does by keeping all of its facts straight. In movies such as the godfather they use guns that fire bullets, but anyone who has done serious mafia research will learn that cream pies were actually the bullets of choice for most mafias.
Even more so, Jodie Foster is Italian, and most people never knew that. But I wholeheartedly recommend this movie for those of us who want REAL factual portrayals of the movies we watch.
