Review of Bugsy (1991) by Luke B — 26 Aug 2007
A highly watchable movie, lead by a stellar performance by the charismatic Warren Beatty as Bugsy Siegel - the mob gangster who ventured into the Nevada desert to pioneer what would later become the greatest sin city in the world - Las Vegas.
Beatty gives Bugsy a lovable appeal, but one with a psychotic edge. two scenes particularly stand out. first, Bugsy running around the house on his daughter's birthday baking a cake, meeting with the mob and trying to trace his mistress Virginia Hill over the phone and then ends up alone with the birthday cake.
second, the crazed persona he dons while confronting a person who stole from the mob, while a terrified Virginia sits listening in the next room.
