Review of Bugsy (1991) by Kate T — 19 Nov 2008
Firstly I don't think Beatty should have cast himself (he produced the film) in the lead, as Siegel around 31, when it starts his life in this film, while as Beatty was 51, and looked it! It's interesting in the sense that it's a true story but I don't think they did a great job in really portraying one of the most colourful characters of the underworld.
Also it was very hard to see why he was devoted so much to Hill, this was never shown properly in the film, although there is no doubt that he was. It's OK but just doesn't stand up to the mafia classics.
Which is a shame as this is a true story based on the mafia's crowning glory, the origins of building Las Vegas.
