Review of Bug (2007) by Jonathan G — 21 Sep 2009
"Bug" has an impressive claustrophobic feel to it that, while suspenseful, wears out its welcome all too quickly. Based on the superior stage play by Tracie Letts (he also wrote the screenplay), "Bug" has some fine performances from Judd and Connick, Jr.
, but all of that is marred by the lack of any real story. The film is not paced as well as it should've been, and what could have been an unrelenting psychological thriller ends up being an almost boring dramatic yarn, proving that just because a play is a success does not mean that it will translate well on to the screen.
