Review of Bug (2007) by Courtney C — 03 Sep 2010
From the advertising, I expected a totally different film from what it actually is. It's advertised as a straight-up horror, but it's far from it. Sure it has the horror elements and the terrors, but it's more of a drama and a tale of two people's demise into insanity.
The performances are outstanding from Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon, among the rest of the cast, and it's probably their performances that make it so brilliant. The plotting is clever and suspenseful, and the screenplay is just sure genius.
The character development is also worth mention. It's some of the strongest development work i've seen in a long, long time. The character's change drastically from the beginning of the film to it's sudden, shocking ending.
