Review of Bug (2007) by Dustin D — 24 Jan 2011
"Bug" is a psychological horror from the director of "The Exorcist," and tells a story of two lonely individuals that fuel each other's decent into complete madness. I do not want to ruin the plot, but I can say that this is an extremely effective horror movie - which is a high compliment given that the horror genre is my least favorite.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: there are only a handful of truly great horror movies, and this is one of them. The final 30 minutes of the film are full of two of the most psychotically brilliant performances I've ever seen.
Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon take chaos and delusion to a whole new level - not just during the film's climax, but throughout its entirety.
