Review of Bug (2007) by Meagan H — 10 Feb 2013
Unfortumately, this did not do well in theaters, mostly because (I believe) most viewers were waiting for The Excorcist Rebooted, but as a study of people's descent into madness, this works well. Ashley Judd gives her best perforrmance as a woman who, while still showing signs of former beauty, has been beaten down so often and badly that she is a shell of her former self.
She lives in a roadside motel that, if one were drivng late at night and felt really tired would keep driving if this was the only option. Perhaps the most interesting part of the cast was Harry Connick as Judd's abusive and violent ex-husband who, while detestable, is really the only one worh listening to.
This film should be shown to acting students.
