Review of Bug (2007) by Geraldine K — 04 Sep 2008

This may seem like a horror film but it's not. It's closer to a psychological thriller. The first act of the film feels like a love story, two people meet, they're attracted to eachother, blah, blah, blah.

The second act isn't scary either, just a short brutal scene involving a wrench and a tooth. It's the third act that probably leads to the film being classified as Horror. This movie starts off slow and ends with a bang, (actaully a fire).

This is the way Horror movies used to be made before the slasher movies of the 80's and the Saw movies of today. Ashley Judd is one of my all time favorite actresses. She wears no makeup, her hair's not done and her wardrobe is unflattering, this does not distract the viewer from her performance though.

She's not Ashley Judd she's "Agnes". And Michael Shannon, who played the same role on stage, knows his character inside and out. I enjoyed watching him. I love all the looks and touches he gives to Agnes.

And if there are any funny lines in the film, there all from him.
