Review of Bug (2007) by Nicholas R — 24 Mar 2009
BUG was a little disappointing for me. Overall it was an entertaining movie, but it severely lacked in multiple areas. For one, the movie sells itself off as being basically a horror movie about bugs! It did have that effect slightly, but it seems to come off as more of a psychological thriller which I didn't mind, but it was just misleading.
Now when William Friedkin directed the Exorcist, it was very clear that it was a psychological thriller/ horror movie about a satanic possession. But I felt scammed when this movie began to exceed a good hour and there still wasn't one site of any kind of bug.
The whole sub-plot about the paranoia of the bugs being a direct result of CIA/ secret operative interference just kind of made me like "blahhhhhgghh". Idk, it almost made me feel like I was watching out- takes from 'SPUN' !! I just wasn't really expecting a movie about mass paranoia, idk, watch at your own discretion but be warned, the title is very deceiving.
