Review of Bug (2007) by Max K — 03 Dec 2009

I wasn't too sure about what to expect from this film, but I really ended up enjoying it. I think a film of this caliber may disappoint some viewers because if its ludicrousness and lack of real scares, but psychologically, it's really f-ed up.

It's not a horror film in the way the ads make it out to be, but it is about real horror. I can definitely compare this Lodge Kerrigan's masterpiece "Clean, Shaven" which was about a schizophrenic who eventually cuts pieces of his body out of his paranoia.

The real attraction here is the stellar performance by the terribly underrated Michael Shannon. Ashley Judd is average (although I'm not the biggest fan of her anyway) and Harry Connick Jr. is just eh.

Those performances aside, it's worth viewing, especially if you like messed up psychological films. Some will hate it, but that's film marketing for you.
