William Friedkin, director of "The Exorcist," pulls through again on a horror film/love story that gets under your skin in the worst way. "Bug" has all the elements of a classic Cronenberg flick like "The Fly".

It balances seriously squirm-inducing bodily terror with a sad love story that has waitress Agnes and drifter Peter slowly descending into madness. Do bugs implanted by government weirdos really exist inside Peter? Is he insane? The line where the truth stands is blurred, and the only thing we do know is he's taking Agnes down with him.

The performances of Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon are spotless, and the story, adapted from Tracy Letts's play, works to great effect. Not a fun movie, but was "The Exorcist" fun the first time you saw it? Of course not.

Friedkin has a great fear factor going on in "Bug," and it's definitely worth a look. Not for the faint of heart.
