Review of Bug (2002) by Always S — 03 Jan 2010
Unless you've been around a paranoid schizophrenic, you may not realize how brilliant a performance Michael Shannon really gives in this utterly gripping cautionary romance. "Dark" doesn't begin to adequately describe this movie.
The ending might be a bit "stagey" for the average consumer, but who cares. Ashley Judd should also be lauded for her ability to make Aggie totally believable. And if you don't think that she's believable, then you've never had the experience of desperately needing your bone-gnawing misery to make sense.
This film is amazing and I came away from it wanting to hug the first person I saw that looked a bit down; Michael Shannon hit it when he said in the special feature interview that it makes you "want to take care of each other.
".
