Review of Bug (1975) by Jon H — 08 Sep 2008
A brilliant return to form for William Friedkin, with a haunting and atmospheric thriller. Treading along delusional lines similiar to Jacob's Ladder and Metamorphosis. This is a stunning descent into paranoia and a great character study with Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon delivering brilliant performances.
The claustrophobic nature and taut narrative keep you on tenter hooks and desperately trying not to itch. To reveal too much of the plot would ruin the film as you need to go in blind and let it unfold, hooking you in. A masterstroke.
