Review of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) by Stephen S — 03 Oct 2009
Not bad, I guess. I've gotta give credit where credit is due, because this movie, as mediocre as it was, became the basis for the awesome tv show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. The show doesn't even really follow the movie at all, and all the characters are either completely different or totally removed alltogether except Buffy herself.
This movie would be a lot cooler if parts of it weren't so badly done. For the most part, with the exception of the battle at the end, the fights are terribly choreographed. Take, for example, the scene where Merrick dies--it's not even a fight, he just gets owned in a stupid way.
I guess this movie isn't that bad, but it's so hard not to watch it and compare it to the tv show.
